Seniors Captain

David Grimley

I have been a member for over 40 years joining the original Burbage Common GC in my early 20's, I served on the committee down there, I cannot remember whether I was press ganged or co-opted on but 
was accepted and the journey began. After a few years I volunteered to stand in for a year as match secretary, whilst the current incumbent Mr Mike Bailey served his year as captain, 11 years later I resigned my post as match secretary having in those years also having been involved in changing the club from having a committee to a Council, to suit the new set up of Hinckley Golf Club Ltd, which was now run by a board of directors. 
Having bought shares in the new company I was invited to sit on the board of directors, which I served for 15 years with the last 9 as Chairman. I retired my position in 2017 having taken early retirement from my company, and handed the position to our current chairman Mr Barry Ayre.
I have had the last 7 years happily playing in our senior's section.

Seniors Vice

Captain

Born in Nuneaton in July 1953 Philip Charles Harrison became member of Hinckley Golf Club in 2021 after retiring in 2020 from a career in engineering, current owner after 21 years of Cassandra’s cafe and deli in Nuneaton with my wife of 50 years Linda.

Secretary 

Richard Wightman

Richard has been a member of Hinckley GC for about 40 years and before that was a junior member of Burbage Common GC in the 1960s which means his golf career goes back nearly 60 years. He has always  been a very keen Sportsman with Cricket, Hockey, Squash and Tennis being his other main sporting interests and also  badminton in more recent years.

Career wise Richard joined the Family Sports Retail business Wightmans in the 1970s after a short spell working for Spillers and was involved  in the change of direction for the Company into Fashion Clothing & Footwear and a change of name to Mission.
Now retired Golf is Richard's only sporting activity but still follows various sports avidly. He is a season ticket holder at Leicester Tigers & a Club member at Leicester City FC.
Richard  is now Secretary of the Seniors Committee at HGC which looks after the interests of over 300 Senior Golfers.

Competitions Match Secretary

Peter Bruce

Pete has been a member again since 2020, although previously a member in 2000 – 2011. Previous memberships were Fraserburgh Golf, Priors Hall, Market Bosworth , Forest Hill, Purley Chase to name but a few, and has been playing 50 + years. He has covered Handicap Secretary’s position prior to IG when it was all handwritten. He has previously run the Juniors sections in other courses and was Captain twice in other courses.
 Pete is Married to Donna who worked at the Castle Mead Medical Centre  ( so most seniors seem to k now h er! ) recently retired h e has 5 Kids, 4 boys and one girl, only 3 of them play, and 6 grandkids. He worked at Metal box, Leicester before moving abroad to Slovakia to set up a new plant. On return to UK he went to Ardagh, Rugby. Now retired since 2019,  hobbies are now staying out of the way of the Grandkids and Donna (in that order)

Treasurer

Andy Lymn

Andy has been a member of Hinckley Golf Club since 2005, in 2021 He was Seniors Captain and since then has become the Treasurer for the Seniors Section. Before joining Hinckley he was a member of Purley Chase Golf Club.
for those that dont know, he is married to Sue and has 2 daughters (Katie and Amy) many of you will remember Katie as she used to work in the office at Hinckley Golf Club. Before retirement he used to work for Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service, finishing his time as a Watch Commander at Nuneaton Fire Station. During his time with WFRS he worked in various locations in Warwickshire,  including several years at Leamington Spa, Stratford upon Avon and also Rugby. Andy completed 34 years in the fire service before retirement, 30 wholetime with Warwickshire and 4 years part time Retained with Shropshire.
